Semih Pehlivan, MCC
Semih Pehlivan was born in 1972 in Adapazarı, Turkey. He studied Accounting at Istanbul Technical University, Sakarya Vocational School, and later completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at Anadolu University. Additionally, he earned another Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences, specializing in “Coaching in Management,” from a private university.
During the early stages of his career, Semih interned as a Chartered Accountant (SMMM). However, recognizing that this career path did not align with his dynamic nature, he transitioned to sales in 1996 by joining Bilim Pharmaceuticals as a Medical Sales Representative.
He later joined Merck Sharp & Dohme, where, after two successful years as a Sales Representative, he was promoted to Regional Manager in 2000. Over the next nine years, he gained extensive experience in leadership and sales management. Following his tenure at Merck Sharp & Dohme, he took on key roles such as Regional Sales Manager at Universal Kimya and Marketing Manager at Sam Metal, before serving as a Management Consultant at Yaşar Vinç for several years.
Semih’s introduction to coaching came during his early managerial roles. Inspired by the potential of coaching to foster personal and professional growth, he pursued a Master’s Degree in “Coaching in Management” and expanded his knowledge by learning from renowned professionals such as:
In September 2014, Semih decided to fully embrace his passion for coaching, guided by the principle: “Do what you love instead of working.” He completed an ICF-accredited coaching program and began his journey as a professional coach.
To specialize further, he pursued advanced training in various areas:
• Executive Coaching: Supporting leaders in maximizing their potential.
• Student Coaching: Helping students plan their futures and build fulfilling careers.
• Relationship Coaching: Promoting healthy and happy family dynamics.
• Team Coaching: Enhancing team collaboration and performance.
Driven to deepen his expertise, Semih also participated in unique programs such as Inherited Family Trauma and Crime and Punishment Psychology. He earned certifications from the University of Central Lancashire, Paul Ekman Training, including:
• Emotional Skills and Competencies (ESaC)
• Evaluating Truthfulness and Credibility (ETaC)
Additionally, he completed the Genos Emotional Intelligence Development Program, gaining the title of Emotional Intelligence Development Specialist.
As a dedicated trainer, Semih completed the Trainer Specialization Program and Body Language Trainer Training at İzgören Academy. Beyond delivering coaching training, he mentors aspiring coaches who are pursuing ICF credentials and helps them deepen their expertise in the coaching profession.
Semih is the patent holder of the “Micro Expressions®” brand and is one of the few ICF-accredited Master Certified Coaches (MCC) globally. He is also an active member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
Currently based in Indiana, USA, Semih continues to offer executive coaching, mentoring, and corporate training programs. He is the founder of Genom Akademi (Turkey) and Genom Academy US, and he is passionate about empowering individuals and organizations to unlock their full potential
